Copper Kettle
A bold, playful online shop for a small-batch hot sauce maker moving from market stalls to nationwide delivery.
The challenge
Copper Kettle had a loyal following at weekend markets and a waiting list of people asking to order online. What they didn’t have was a shop, product photos, or the words to describe twelve different sauces.
They also had a hard deadline: a feature in a regional food magazine, three weeks away.
The approach
We ran the design and copy side by side. A short naming-and-tone workshop gave us a voice: cheeky, warm, slightly unhinged about chilli. Product descriptions followed the same pattern, so heat level, pairings and ingredients are always in the same place.
The shop is built on a platform the owners can run themselves, with stock levels, bundles and subscriptions handled without any custom code. Bright colours carry over from the stall, so market regulars recognise it instantly.
What I built
- 01
Heat-level filter
Shoppers filter by heat, flavour and pairing in one tap.
- 02
Bundles & subscriptions
Monthly sauce club set up on day one.
- 03
Product copy
Twelve product descriptions written to a consistent, tasty template.
- 04
Owner training
A recorded walkthrough so the team can add new sauces themselves.
The results
“We went from a card reader at a market stall to shipping all over the country, in less than a month. Still slightly in shock.”
